Why This Summit Matters
As the global community marks a decade since the Paris Agreement, Kosovo – though not a formal signatory – is stepping forward with bold voluntary commitments to align with international decarbonisation goals. With the recent adoption of key legal and policy frameworks, Kosovo is entering a decisive phase in its climate and economic transition.
Yet, policies alone are not enough. Accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy requires an active and capable private sector, access to sustainable finance, and a regulatory environment aligned with the EU Green Deal and emerging market standards.
This summit shifts the focus from climate ambition to climate implementation, with practical insights on sustainable development, circular value chains and ESG-aligned business practices.
Summit Objectives
- Highlight the strategic role of the private sector in Kosovo’s decarbonisation pathway and integration of ESG principles.
- Introduce Kosovo’s Voluntary NDC and explore how its goals can be supported through policy, procurement and business-led climate action.
- Showcase how Green Public Procurement (GPP) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) can create markets for low-carbon, circular materials.
- Promote alignment with EU frameworks, including the Green Deal, CBAM, EU Taxonomy and CSRD, with a focus on SME preparedness.
- Facilitate access to green finance and blended instruments for climate-aligned projects.
- Build capacity of SMEs and public institutions to adopt sustainable practices and improve ESG readiness.
- Foster partnerships and coordination mechanisms for sustained public-private dialogue on the green transition.
