CSR Annual Gala Event & Award Ceremony in Kosovo
Kosovo CSR Network organized the Annual CSR Gala Event and Award Ceremony, bringing together leaders of state institutions and foreign missions, CEOs and owners of local and international companies, donor organizations, civil society representatives, and other CSR supporters.
The event aimed to encourage collaboration among stakeholders, increase the visibility of CSR excellence, and raise awareness about the positive impact businesses can have on society.
Linda Tahiri Rukiqi, Executive Director of Kosovo CSR Network, expressed pride in the Network’s contribution to sustainable economic development through the promotion of CSR concepts, ideas, and concrete actions. She emphasized that Kosovo CSR Network serves as a platform that unites socially responsible companies and organizations operating in Kosovo, enabling them to generate a stronger collective impact.
Deputy Prime Minister Enver Hoxhaj addressed the participants and presented the main award. He highlighted the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility for sustainable development and noted that CSR promotes the values and principles of responsible business conduct.
Mrs. Ulrika Richardson, UN Development Coordinator for Kosovo, underlined the crucial role of the private sector in driving global change and overcoming economic crises. She emphasized that consumers increasingly expect products and services to be responsibly produced and tend to choose companies that operate ethically.
Meridian Express won the main CSR Award for 2018 for its outstanding contribution to society. The award was received by the company’s Director, Agon Gashi. The company was selected by an external evaluation panel composed of NGO representatives, the UN office in Kosovo, and state institutions. The assessment considered compliance with the ten UN Global Compact principles, contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN Agenda 2030, innovation, stakeholder engagement, and long-term vision.
A special “CSR Appreciation Award” was presented to Emmanuel Mitsou, former Director of Sharrcem, in recognition of his valuable contribution to the founding and strengthening of Kosovo CSR Network. Thomas Glavas, current Director of Sharrcem, expressed gratitude for the award and reaffirmed that social responsibility remains a core element of the company’s strategy and operations.
According to Kosovo CSR Network, events of this kind strengthen support for CSR initiatives and encourage more companies to integrate responsible business principles into their operations, contributing to sustainable development in Kosovo.
